LinkedIn

Most people are familiar with the concepts of Facebook and twitter, LinkedIn however remains unknown to most people. Linkedin has a reputation for being a Social Media site for professionals only but this reputation is old fashioned, LinkedIn is a legitimate business tool used by a wide variety of companies who can come to the consensus that it is the most productive. On LinkedIn, people don’t chat about music or what they did on Saturday night, but instead focus on opportunities and how the network can help you. Here are just some of the most common and productive uses of LinkedIn.

LinkedIn can be used to create publicity not only for your business but a product. It isn't always easy to contact the media. But many of them have a LinkedIn profile, and you can contact them throughLinkedIn. You can get free targeted Social Media Traffic for your business by sending them a press release or a quick email letting them know about your business or product launch. This is a much easier way to get your product out there.

OK you have a job, but it’s not really what you want. Thats were LinkedIn comes into play Join LinkedIn, and get out there, look for business's that are looking for people to fill the jobs that you are interested in and then get in touch with them. To assist in promoting yourself to potential employers create a LinkedIn profile that serves as a resume, use a vanity url for this and then send people the URL. Your dream job could be just one click away.

LinkedIn is something to yet become a household name, but it soon will. It has proven to be a very useful tactic for business's and people who are looking to get themselves into new jobs. It's not as personal as its competitors such as myspace or facebook, but it offers the same if not a better opportunities for businessmen.

facebook and myspace

Social networking is a great way to connect to other people for a variety of reasons. It connects you to your friends and co-workers as well as theirs. Different people or company's use social networking in different ways. Some use it as a social tool others use it as a bridge in to a business community. Either way social networking has been very beneficial to today's society.

Many company's believe that marketing their products on social networks such as Myspace is more effective then a traditional advertisement. The embracement of the new social networking advertisements is brought from the belief that "30 percent of frequent social networkers trust their peers' opinions when making a major purchase decision, but only 10 percent trust an advertisement," said by Emily Riley, JupiterResearch analyst and lead author of the report. In order to attract attention from the market, advertisers must make their page interesting by using all the tools that the social network provides.

Another way to use social networks is for out own personal/professional development. They are a very productive and practical way to connect with current colleagues or to find others who share your interests. They can also help you create and build your online reputation and find new resources and ideas.

Social networking is helping people everyday in all different ways, either personal or business. Hopefully this new idea broadens even more and enhances its ability to give out opportunities and for others just enjoy. Social networking has done exactly what it set out to do, connect people with people.

google docs

Google Docs

Google Docs is an innovative new program that reaches past its forbearer, yahoo briefcase in numerous ways. It connects people with each other in a much more accessible less stressful way. Business’ love the use of Google docs because it adds structure to it. Also it is useful for the average student, like me, if you do a project on one computer and you need to pull it up somewhere else, but you lack the specific physical tools to do so you can just upload it onto Google Docs. Then pull it up later at your home computer and continue to work on it. Google Docs has simplified businesses and given others a reliable source to store and share information with others.

Business’ have a lot of e-mails flying all over the place which created a cluster and adds stress. Google docs provide an answer, with giving everyone the ability to accessing the document with ease. This statement was said by the chairman and CEO of salesforce.com "With Google Apps, everybody is running the same copy because it all comes from a central server. That's a more secure and a more powerful way to run your business." Google Docs offer the flexibility of communicating quickly and collaborating easily amongst business’ and with customers, regardless of location.

As a student Google Docs has become a useful tool in my educational career. It helps me access information from school and home. It also highlights school events, showcases student work, it can let everyone know what events are coming soon by implanting a calendar on your page. It can also link your classroom sites from your school's main website. In school a lot of project tends to be group projects, and with sports, school work and other activities it’s hard to find a time that everyone can get together and work. Google Docs helps everyone access the project from separate computers and everyone can input their part.

Google Docs is changing the way business’ operate, school is ran and the way people do their jobs. It’s alleviating stress and reinforces projects by making them easier and less stressful. Hopefully Google Docs will be used to its fullest potential in the future, it’s a very useful tool that gives people a better opportunity to succeed in their task.

This new grading system is killing me. While all my B -'s would of been B's and C -'s C's my GPA suffered because of it. My mom is probably going to kill me considering I may be under a 3.0 so i dont think im going to have a happy thanksgiving.

favorite vacations

Today in my blog I'm going to discuss my favorite vacation,

A few years ago my family and few other family went up to Mount Tremblaunt in Canada. This trip was especially fun because it was the first time i experienced skiing. On this trip it was the first time i went skiing and it introduced me to a whole new sport that i have continued to practice my whole life. This was also fun because there was a hand full of activities me and my family and friends could do. Such as go sledding, go out to eat, or just hang out around the town. This was a great time there was never a dull moment and my family still talks about it today.

Twitter

Donald Csorny

Twitter

Numbers that impressive mean the site is more than just the net’s latest craze — it means the service has become an inescapable cultural phenomenon, for better or worse. Twitter can not only link friends and co-workers together, but fans to their idols. It has changed the way people communicate with their friends and also their favorite stars. Anyone can follow anyone, and connect to them. But, as the saying goes you can’t have too much of a good thing. Some people abuse twitter and they find themselves regretting ever using it. People have got in trouble at their job, been fined, some have lost fans and even the economy is effected.

Twitter has been not only a positive way for people to stay in touch, but it also allows bossiness's to link to the social media. It allows bossiness's too link to their employees and their customers on a whole new level. They can promote their product and ask for advice and how to promote it. The twitter revolution has helped bossiness's break through the wall and get into consumers interests much easier and much more successfully.

Some people who use twitter have found themselves immediately regretting it. The general public understands that what you put online stays online and can be seen or accessed by just about anyone. Some times there are tweets put up about ones work. The person who tweeted it never meant for it get out, but they can end up getting in trouble or even losing their jobs. In one case a man posts something about his new job at Cisco: “Who is the hiring manager. I’m sure they would love to know that you will hate the work. We here at Cisco are versed in the web”. This entry eventually got back to the higher powers at be, and this innocent tweet cost this guy his job. Twitter can be easily abused and can end up being detrimental to ones life.

Not only has Twitter effected individuals lives but, some believe that it has pushed our economy to were it lies today. A professor at Harvard has hypothesized that since the use of twitter the economy has plunged. He believes that workers are now more distracted then ever. Instead of doing their regular duties, they would be tweeting pointless anecdotes on their co-workers, or their boss, and themselves. This chart shows the use of twitter and the economic downturn:

Although technology seems to provide easy accessibility to our lives and makes them more practical it also can harm us. The use of twitter lets everyone know how we feel and what we think about people, but sometimes somethings are meant to be kept to ourselves. Also they as technology makes people lazier because everything is at our fingertips and it is starting to show in our economy. The newly praised phenomenon twitter has offered us great accessibility with our friends and idols, but also brings us down in other more important aspects of life.
